Sheryl Rowland
Sheryl Rowland is the director of the Rowland School of Ballet. She created the school and has directed it in the Humble/Kingwood area since 1975. She began her training at an early age in Houston with Emmamae Horn and the Houston Ballet Academy. She also trained in New York at the American Ballet Theatre School and the Ballet Repertory School. Sheryl danced professionally with the Houston Ballet for 4 years and in summer stock at Houston Music Theatre.
Sheryl teaches ballet at the Rowland School of Ballet and she has over 38 years of teaching and choreography experience. She is actively involved in the annual school recital. She also directs Kingwood Dance Theatre, a pre-professional ballet company in residence at Rowland School of Ballet which performs The Nutcracker Ballet each holiday season (since 1986) along with other quality productions. Kingwood Dance Theatre is an Honor Company in Regional Dance America/Southwest and Sheryl is an officer on the board of directors.
David & Victoria Ballard
Victoria competed at NCAA Gymnastics Nationals all 4 Years in college at Southeast Missouri. She was voted team captain 2 years. She was voted Most Valuable Gymnast in 1984. She earned All-American honors on the un-even bars. She coached Kingwood High School to 4 Texas State team championships. She was voted “Coach of the Year” by Texas High School Coaches Association. During her 9 years as the Kingwood High School coach she had 20 individual state champions, 3 national qualifiers, 3 national champions, and in 1989 she coached #1 High School Team in the Nation!
David started coaching in 1979 at Cherokee Gym under the direction of Kathy Parsley. He was invited to be a member of Karolyi's Master Staff 1981 - 1985. Through the years Dave has trained numerous Texas state all-around and event champions. He has also coached many District and South-State all-around and event champions. He's had several Regional (includes states Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming) all-around and event champions. David has also coached numerous Level 9 Junior Olympic Western National qualifiers and Level 10 Junior Olympic National Championship qualifiers. David has trained many athletes to full gymnastics collegiate scholarships to schools like Ohio State, Arkansas, BYU, Kentucky, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Centinary.
David is a Professional USA Gymnastics Member and is Safety Certified - USA Gymnastics.
David and Vici have trained literally thousands of children in the Kingwood area since 1985. They have 3 children - Beth Ann, Hannah, and Emma Kate.
Kevin Reiland - Boys Director
Kevin Reiland is a first-rate coach who has 20+ years of coaching experience. He has been with Rowland/Ballard for 17 years. Kevin is the director of the boys' team program, and he coaches both developmental, compulsory, and optional boys. Kevin is also the head coach for the Kingwood High School gymnastics team.
Kevin has been involved in the sport for a long time. He competed for the private clubs of Rowland/Ballard and the Gymnast Factory, as a high school All-American for Kingwood High School, and a member of the Michigan State University Gymnastics Team.
Kevin has been honored many times for his coaching abilities. In 2005, he received the Texas State Coach of the Year and Regional Coach of the Year awards. He has coached numerous athletes to state, regional, and national championship competitions. He has 5 Region III developmental team members to his credit, and his high school team was named as national champion in 2001.
Kevin holds memberships in USAG (professional), the Gymnastics Association of Texas, THSGCA, and NHSGCA. He is also safety certified, CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
Kelly Agnew - Ballet/Creative Dance/K.D.T.-K.Y.B.
Kelly Agnew has an impressive background in training, teaching and performing. She trained with the Rowland School of Ballet, the Ballet Center of St. Louis, the Houston Ballet Academy, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and the University of Oklahoma where she received her BFA in Ballet Performance, Summa Cum Laude. Kelly has been a teacher for 12 years and teaches ballet and creative dance at the Rowland School of Ballet. She is also the Co-Director of the Kingwood Youth Ballet.
Kelly has been a resident dancer with Kingwood Dance Theatre, Missouri Concert Youth Ballet, St. Louis Ballet, Sandra Organ Dance Company, and Oklahoma Festival Ballet. She has received accolades for her accomplishments.*

Melanie Cryer - KinderGym Director
Professional Member - USA Gymnastics / Safety Certified - USA Gymnastics
Melanie Cryer is the director of Rowland/Ballard's preschool gymnastics program, KinderGym. She has 12 years of coaching experience, and her stated mission is to help preschool children learn and master basic gymnastics skills in a fun, positive, and safe environment. She is a professional member of USAG and holds certifications in both safety and preschool from the national gymnastics organization. Melanie is also a women's gymnastics judge, a member of the National Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges, and the current treasurer of the Greater Houston Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges. Melanie loves to teach. She holds a BAT from Sam Houston State University and has taught children for 25 years in a variety of settings.
Susan Chambers-Celie' - Jazz/Tap/Ballet/K.D.T.
Susan Chambers-Cilie' is a highly qualified teacher of jazz, tap and ballet with over thirty years professional experience. After majoring in dance at the High School of Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX., she traveled extensively, performing and choreographing revues in Las Vegas, Europe, the Orient and the Caribbean. She has taught for major studios in Miami, Dallas, Aruba and Houston, where she is currently associate choreographer for Kingwood Dance Theatre, Kingwood Youth Ballet and Centre Stage.
Her musical theater credits include choreography for ANNIE, GUYS & DOLLS, GODSPELL, HOT MIKADO, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Her concert ballets have been performed at Regional Dance America Southwest Festival 2000 & 2006. She also had her choreography presented at Young Tanzsommer Festival in Austria, 2005.
Susan continues her personal training attending master classes, Soul to Sole Tap Festival in Austin, TX. and Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop at CU in Colorado. She is a member of Dance Educators of America, an adjudicator for regional and national dance competitions and recently completed her Advanced Pilates certification.
Jon Dane - SAG Director/Team
Professional Member - USA Gymnastics / Safety Certified - USA Gymnastics
Jon Dane is the school age program director and associate team coach. Jon does a great job coaching students in our school-age, preschool, home school, and tumbling programs, as well as assisting both compulsory/optional girls' and boys' teams.
Jon has had great success in training cheerleading hopefuls in Rowland/Ballard's tumbling program. Many of the girls with whom he has worked have been selected for their middle school and high school cheer squads. Jon is also in great demand as a tumbling instructor for private lessons.
Jon is also certified as a preschool instructor (KAT) and in CPR and First Aid for all ages.
Mary McNulty-Hayes - Ballet/K.D.T.
Mary McNulty Hayes has been teaching multi-leveled classes at Rowland School of Ballet for over 12 years. In addition, she is Assistant Artistic Director of the Kingwood Dance Theatre, assisting in training, coaching and organizing for the company. She has an impressive background training with Natasha Krassovska, George Skibine, Marjorie & Maria Tallchief, Gustavo Mollajoli, Finis Jhung & David Howard. From the age of 12 every summer she received full summer scholarships with New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet & Harkness Ballet. She was invited to train with the Bolshoi Ballet while in New York and with the Paris Opera Ballet while in Paris France.
Mary has abundant varied professional performing experience in many companies, as corps/demi soloist/and soloist with the Chicago Ballet, Ballet Popular du Reims (France), Kassel Ballet (Kassel Germany), Kiel Ballet (Kiel Germany), where she met the Queen of England aboard her ship Britannia, and Frankfurt Ballet (Frankfurt Germany). She has toured all of Europe in productions such as Sleeping Beauty and Sheherazade. Performed for, dined with Princess Grace & Prince Rainier of Monaco,Monte Carlo. By special invitation only performing Annabel Lee and excerpts from Sheherazade in Corfu Greece. She has performed many Balachine ballets, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo&Juliet, Swan Lake and varied pieces by well known choreographers and directors such as William Forsythe, Peter Wright and Jiri Kylian to name a few.
Brian Jarrell - Girls Team Coach/Asst. Director

Brian Jarrell, better known as "BJ," has been coaching for 20 years, 8 of which have been at Rowland/Ballard. He coaches the girls' developmental teams and both compulsory and optional levels in the girls' competitive team programs. BJ is a dedicated coach, and as a result of his pursuit of excellence in the sport, he has had an impressive number of gymnasts who have been state, regional, and national champions.*
BJ is a professional member of USAG. He is certified in First Aid and CPR, as well as being safety-certified through the United States Association of Gymnastics. He is a member of the Gymnastics Association of Texas and is a USAG skill evaluator.
Kerry Godkins - Ballet/Creative Dance
Kerry Mullagan teaches creative dance and ballet. She became a welcome addition to our teaching staff in 2005. Kerry began dancing at the age of six. She trained with Roseanne Bruno in New Jersy, and at American Academy of Dance under the direction of Angela Jackson and Barbara LeGault in Houston. She later joined the pre-professional training company Houston Dance Theatre under the tutelage of Ms. Jackson and Ms. LeGault, where she performed such roles as the Dew Drop Fairy, Snow Queen and Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker, and principal roles such as Little Red Riding Hood in The Sleeping Beauty, Four Little Swans and Odette in Swan Lake, and the Flower Girl in Gaite Parissienne. She spent summers training with the Joffrey Ballet School, Alonzo King's Lines Contemporary Ballet, and overseas.
After high school, Kerry began teaching and free lance dancing professionally in such principal roles as Swanhilda in Coppelia, Princess Fluorine (the Blue Bird Pas de Deux) in The Sleeping Beauty, Clara and the Snow Queen Pas de Deux in the Nutcracker. She is devoted to educating children in the beloved art of dance and she teaches at many schools in the Houston area, which she finds very rewarding.
